Getting Started

Greetings cyberworld, my name is Meggan, and  I have the privilege of apprenticing with the fine people at Touchstone Theatre this year, with an emphasis on community engagement for The Civil War Project. Throughout the year I will be posting photos, research, and stories about the creative process ahead. It is my hope that by doing so I can generate a dialogue with the greater community about what our project means for the Lehigh Valley, and how those who want to can get involved.

I am not a blogger by nature, and there will be a learning curve on this, but I will say now, the more the people around me get involved, the bigger and brighter this project will shine.

The first important information to relate is that there will be a public reading on Thursday, September 15th at 7pm for A Resting Place, a new play commissioned by Touchstone and written by Alison Carey from Oregon Shakespeare Festival. She has written this play based on the research regarding Bethlehem’s involvement in the Civil War, specifically the men and women buried in our local cemeteries. This public reading will be an opportunity to see this project grow and also give the audience a chance to shape the final product.

There will be more information in the coming days.  Please feel free to leave questions or comments on this website or contact me directly at meggan@touchstone.org.  You can also visit our company website at http://www.touchstone.org.
